Certified SAEF® (Safe and Effective First™).
Certified SAEF is an international organization aimed at supporting positive changes in the industry standards regarding safety and efficacy of natural health products.
In general governments establish regulation regarding the sale of natural health products to protect consumers; however, there still exists gaps in these regulations that allow certain ingredients to make their way into products and can have implications for consumers. The deficiencies that exist in government regulations are especially important for those individuals that are involved in sport or organizations with an anti-doping policy. With the growing popularity of natural health products the government regulatory departments simply cannot keep ahead of the introduction of new products to market and as such independent organizations are essential to examine product labels and claims. Certified SAEF brings natural health products and dietary supplements to the next level by ensuring that the product performs as it claims and does not produce any adverse effects. To ensure accuracy, testing is conducted during clinical trials with a minimum 8-week duration with human subjects and recommended dosages.
